The Veer Union “Decade”

It’s been ten years since their first album, “Time To Break the Spell,”  and The Veer Union is marking the occasion with their newest release “Decade.” Frontman Crispin Earl is back with an all new lineup featuring Dan Sittler on lead guitar, Ryan Ramsdell on rhythm guitar, Amal Wijayanayake on bass and screams, and touring drummer Tyler Reimer.

The album is all about the struggles the band has gone through and overcoming adversity especially Crispin’s battle with depression which is evident in the lead single “Defying Gravity,” a hard driving rocker that kicks things off. The album is a mixture of new songs and older tunes and includes “Watch You Lose” and “Make Believe” which were used on Tommy Lee’s  2005 solo record “Tommyland.”  Crispin self produced the record and it has an overall fresh feel to it with a mixture of upbeat rockers and slower paced reflections.  He has always had a great vocal range and his voice is showcased throughout. Musically the band is solid but really seems to shine on the true rockers.  Not to be missed tracks are the single “Defying Gravity” and the hooky “Heart Attack.”

The Veer Union is one of those bands that had a killer first album and kind of drifted out of the limelight.  With a strong new lineup and a solid album in “Decade,” it seems that Crispin is headed back in the right direction.
