Nancy Wilson of Heart forms new project with Liv Warfield

Founding Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson is preparing to launch a new side project called Roadcase with R&B singer Liv Warfield, who is a former member of the late Prince‘s backing group New Power Generation.

According to a message on Wilson’s Facebook page, the band features three other Heart members — drummer Ben Smith, bassist Dan Rothchild and keyboardist Chris Joyner — as well as Warfield’s music director and guitarist Ryan Waters, who has also worked with Sade. The post promises that “more info [is] coming soon,” and features a brief video clip of the band members hamming it up.

In addition, Warfield has posted a message about Roadcase on her own Facebook page, in which she declares, “SO EXCITED TO DO THIS AMAZING PROJECT WITH @nancywilson OF HEART…This is beyond incredible!! We both said we’re gonna write music/work together and look out…Looking forward to this year!”

Wilson and Warfield also both posted a photo of them together, along with the note, “Brand new year. New friends. New music… #Roadcase.”

Interestingly, Smith and Joyner also play in another Heart side project: frontwoman Ann Wilson‘s The Ann Wilson Thing, which has released two EPs over the last couple of years.
