Roar on the Shore in Erie, PA has been building since its inception 12 years ago. The bike week has been welcoming bikers form all over North America to raise funds for various charities. This year’s proceeds will go to the Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center in Erie, PA.  The 4 days event attracted various events including headlining shows each night by a national recording artist. On Saturday we took in former Cinderella front man Tom Keifer as he dazzled the crowd for an hour and 30 minute plus set.

Keifer has enjoyed a lot of praise with his first solo record “The Way Life Goes” was released back in 2013. He and his 7 piece band has toured extensively around the globe since that time.  Taking the stage shortly after 9pm, the band dove into “The More Things Change” off of 1993’s “Heartbreak Station.”  The band was locked in led by Keifer moving about every inch of the stage to much of the fans delight.

The set list was primarily dominated by Cinderella songs but Keifer did sprinkle in 2 solo songs and a cover as well. Not many artists sing with the power and ferocity that Keifer has since the mid 1980’s.  In the past, Keifer has battled various vocal issues probably due to his signing style. Watching him perform in Erie, I see he is really controlling his voice and signing the song and conserving his voice for the entire set. Of course he was able to extend it when needed on songs like without trying to like on “Long Cold Winter” and “Somebody Save Me.” His wife and backup vocalist Savannah joined her husband center stage to help sing “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone).” A piano was rolled out for the track which gave the song more authority. He did a great rendition of Joe Cocker’s “A Little Help From my Friends” while Savannah Keifer and Kendra Chantelle were amazing on the harmonies. Keifer played an electric guitar for most of the set outside of “Shake Me” and A”Little Help From my Friends.” The highlight of the set was “Solid Ground.” The song really fit seamlessly into what the band is doing and it really came off great live!

A great way to end the 2018 Roar on the Shore. If interested in checking out future information or to make a donation, please go to: Roar on the Shore.
