+LIVE+ today (10/12) have released their new EP LOCAL 717 via Kavalry Records. The five-song EP marks the first collection of new material from the original line-up–Ed Kowalczyk (vocals, guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion)–in over a decade. LOCAL 717 is available on all DSPs now, including iTunes,Apple Music and Spotify.
The multi-platinum band gave fans another early look at the EP this week (10/10) as Loudwire.com premiered “Brother,” “a blistering new song,” as noted by the site’s Chad Childers. In late September, the hard-edged and driving second official single, “Be a Giver, Man”–which features Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction on percussion–debuted on Consequence of Sound with Randall Colburn noting, “Taylor’s dynamic riffs twist and crackle beneath Kowalczyk’s bravura vocals on the vibrant track…” Watch a lyric video for “Be a Giver, Man,” here.
Meanwhile, “Love Lounge,” the lead single from LOCAL 717 found the band making noise on the Billboard Active Rock and Mainstream Rock charts.RollingStone.com‘s Ryan Reed praised the song as “thunderous” and noting that “Kowalczyk alternates between a muted, bluesy rumble and a full-throated roar on the track, singing over psychedelic guitar leads, swooshing hi-hats and layers of distortion.”
Produced by +LIVE+ guitarist Chad Taylor and recorded at Think Loud Studios in the band’s hometown of York, PA with additional recording completed in Los Angeles at the Foo Fighters’ Studio 606+LIVE+ bring raw energy and renewed creativity on LOCAL 717 which comes following the band’s 2017 reunion. The EP contains four original songs and a cover of theVelvet Underground’s “Venus In Furs” from their 1967 debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico. *See the track listing below.
