AS KISS gears up for another run of tour dates, guitarist Tommy Thayer stopped at this years NAMM tradeshow to promote his new guitar, the Tommy Thayer Electric Blue Les Paul. This amazing looking 6 string is his new signature guitar and it was really the showstopper of signature models that were on display at the Gibson booth during NAMM. One of the most gracious musicians on the planet, Tommy was ever so kind to sit down to talk with us about the new guitar and how it came about. In our conversation, we talked about a few subjects. I asked Tommy on his thoughts of the new setup at this years KISS Kruise. Tommy pulls no punches and is not only a member of the band, he was fan first so his answer was pretty much what I expected.
KISS is playing my hometown on February 5th, 2020. This is the first time since June 24, 2000 that the band his played Buffalo, NY. Before Tommy was in KISS he used to be the bands tour manager. He shared a story on KISS’ last appearance in Buffalo. Lets just say you have to watch what he says as his answer is something that came out of left field.
Kiss announced their last show that will take place on July 17, 2021 in New York City. I asked Tommy what his plans are once KISS hangs up their touring boots? In addition we chat about what KISS’ plans are for releasing anything to follow the KISSOLOGY series.
As I mentioned before, Tommy couldn’t have been more gracious and its always a pleasure to sit down and talk to him. Enjoy this candid conversation with the Spaceman Tommy Thayer of KISS.
