One of the most anticipated shows on the Artpark schedule happened this past Tuesday. Brothers Osborne took to the stage to the biggest crowd of the year at Artpark. Approximately 5,500 or so attendees saw one of the most energetic shows of the summer. The country duo has been gaining a lot of steam since their initial release called “Pawn Shop” on EMI records back in 2016. Fast forward 5 years, the band consisting of brothers John and T.J. are now one of the biggest country acts on the circuit. They on tour in support of their 3rd release called “Skeletons.”
Taking the stage at 8pm, the band moved about as they went into the title track “Skeletons.” Vocalist T.J. Osborne looked around after the 3rd song and talked about the layout of the park. He compared it to a human body and was joking with the audience on where they were standing in relative to a certain body part. T.J. Osborne also said that he took self-note during the pandemic and realized that he doesn’t need much to make him happy. He hoped everyone else did the same and was just glad to be out playing again in front of a live audience as that was one of the things that makes him happy the most. He also talked about how he can wish he can go back and tell himself when he was younger than when he got older that everything would be ok. They then proceeded to go into “Younger Me.” The band slowed it down where both T.J. and his brother and lead guitarist John played acoustic guitars. They were backed by a violin and shakers as they played a few tracks including “Weed. Whiskey and willie.” John Osborne co-sang the Johnny Cash cover “Folsom Prison Blues.” John Osborne didn’t say too much but let his guitar do most of the talking. As the night got dark, the stage became even more visible as you were able to see the different colored lights the band had as part of their stage show. Towards the send of the set, they were getting the crowd riled even more by chanting the Buffalo Bills chant “Let’s go Buffalo!” The band finished with the 1st single to “Skeletons” called “All Night.”
As country currently is defined, you can say this isn’t your mama’s country. That’s ok because Brothers Osborne is today’s country. The new generation loves bands like Brothers Osborne and what type of country they bring to the people. The country they delivered on Tuesday could be one of WNY concerts highlights of the season!
