As we start trying to get back to some normalcy, being able to enjoy entertainment is a big part of that normalcy. The Seneca Niagara Casino is also getting taking strides to get back to normalcy as they have a full schedule of events coming in 2022. There was no better way to get things kicked off with one of the most loveable performers out on the circuit than in Marie Osmond. The Osmond family name has been synonymous in the Entertainment industry for well over 6 decades. That also includes Marie who has been dazzling audiences since the early 1970’s in both TV and in music. Marie just released her 11th studio effort in ‘Unexpected.’
Marie took the stage with local Buffalo Philharmonic backing her. She was all smiles as she went though a very diverse setlist. That setlist included 6 new tracks off of ‘Unexpected’ as well as longtime Marie Osmond classics like “Meet Me in Montana” and the song she might be almost associated with in “Paper Roses.” She also went through a few costume changes throughout her set. During one of them, she brought out her nephew to co-sing on “Meet Me in Montana.” Then he took over telling a story of how he overcame to be a performer as he sang the next two songs in “I Can Do This” and “Feeling Good.” She came back out and sang the heartfelt song “Somewhere” which was dedicated to her late son Michael. Then again she brought out another vocalist. This time she brought out runner up contestant in America’s Got Talent in Daniel Emmet. Many tab Emmet as the as the next Plácido Domingo and you can see why after he co-sang with Marie on “The Prayer.” This may have been the highlight of the night as both shined during this powerful tune. Emmet stayed on to sing a few more songs then Osmond came out to close the set.
Again, you won’t find a more professional who knows who to deal with an audience than Osmond. At one point, she brought up our own Thom Jennings to help her sing “Crazy.” After this, she went through the audience and signed various gentleman’s heads with a lips logo. She interacted with audience throughout the show and that makes her very endearing. She was ray of sunshine which was very needed as the Western New York area is in the doldrums of the winter season.
