It took about half the summer but finally the ‘Can’t Stop us Now’ tour featuring Pitbull with special guest Iggy Azalea made its way to the WNY area for a sold out show. It was beautify night to hold what could be classified as the party of the year. A mix of both pop and rap were on full display for everyone to hear and enjoy.
Up first was Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. Fresh off a 2021 release of her 3rd studio effort titled, ‘The End of an Era,’ the buxom blond was all raring to go. The 14 song 35 minute set went fast but left a lasting impression with her fans. She wore a skin tight green and yellow outfit (her dancers also wearing similar outfits). “Woke Up Diamonds” and “Is That Right” were two new tracks that she did that the audience seemed to really enjoy. Every time Azalea twerked, she got a she got a big response. She defiantly wetted the appetite and got the pre game festivities going for Pitbull.
For the last 18 years, Pitbull (AKA Mr. worldwide) has been braiding himself as one of the top entertainers in the business. With 25 million albums and 100 million singles sold worldwide, you can see why he is becoming just that. Opening up with his signature song ” Don’t Stop the Party,’ you knew things were going to go in the right direction for the rest of the night. Surrounded by beautiful dancers, Pitbull delivered an impressive hour and 30 minute set. There were a few times where Pitbull took the time to talk to the crowd during and one where he talked about music to be the universal language. He then proceeded to do his Spanish song “Echa pa’lla (manos pa’rriba)” to great fanfare. He had his DJ IAmChino come out a few times and lead the charge on the Tag team classic “Whoomp! there It is!’ and “Hit the Floor” “Toma.” Pitbull paid tribute to one of his heroes in James Brown’s “I feel good.” That segued into “On the Floor,” “I Like It,” and “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love.” Pitbull showed his love for the USA as well. He talked about being Cuban American and that if everyone saw what some parts of the rest the world looks like that the worst hoods in the US would be Beverly Hills compared to some parts of the world he has seen. He wanted everyone to appreciate their Freedom. He said freedom isn’t free is and it’s priceless so appreciate what you have. He also called Politics “Politricks.” So he got the crowd doing USA as it processed into the track “Anthem.” Pitbull moved about the entire show and delivered a high energy performance throughout!
Pitbull’s suave personality gets the ladies to go ga ga over him and he enjoys bringing the party atmosphere which the guys love too. The term “party” got thrown around a lot during Pitbull’s set but I must admit, he delivered it.
