Formed in 1989, ICP’s best-known lineup consists of rappers Violent J (Joseph Bruce) and Shaggy 2 Dope (originally 2 Dope; Joseph Utsler), this dynamic duo carved a unique and controversial niche in the music world.
ICP is renowned for their genre-defying style, known as “horrorcore rap,” which blends elements of hip-hop with dark, often macabre themes. Their music is a carnival of chaos, delving into topics like the supernatural, societal issues, and the bizarre. But it’s not just their lyrics that set them apart; it’s their personas.
