Present
THE PSYCHEDELIC MIXTAPE
Immersive Experience to Premiere April 17th at Cosm

Internationally renowned musician/producer/DJ/filmmaker/multimedia artist Chris Holmes/Fascinated by Everything are proud to present The Psychedelic Mixtape, premiering April 17th at Cosm with additional screenings on April 19th and 20th and then into Cosm After Dark programming throughout the summer. The Psychedelic Mixtape represents a new level of fully immersive, multi-sensory experience, staged within a state-of-the-art shared reality entertainment destination.

“The Cosm dome is the perfect environment. The frame disappears. The light surrounds you. The sound comes from every direction. It’s not just about watching something—it’s about being fully inside of it, with other people. That shared awe becomes a kind of real-time communion. And that’s the entire point… At a time when all the screens in our life are triggering ego, fear and worry, the idea is to use screens to help connect us to wonder, joy and fascination.” —Chris Holmes

From his earlier career as a touring musician to the last decade-plus that he’s traveled the world as Paul McCartney’s DJ, Holmes amassed the experiences that inspired and informed The Psychedelic Mixtape. Having played to crowds of every imaginable mix of age, nationality, creed and culture, Holmes has had his faith in the unifying power of music constantly renewed and reaffirmed. Whether spinning for crowds numbering in the tens of thousands in South American football stadiums or creating the soundtracks to intimate post-show soirees, the common goal for Holmes has been the creation of a unifying crowd experience akin to massive arena-wide singalong.

These experiences would ultimately move Holmes to utilize skills honed over decades in an entirely new context — to remix light, sound, and color to create something more than the sum of these elements: to evoke near-hallucinogenic effects, without the use of actual drugs.

The Psychedelic Mixtapes’ visuals originate from filmed physical light, hand built and captured in a garage workshop using laser-cut acrylic mirror LED kaleidoscopes, projection mapped mandalas, infinity cubes, and laser sculptures designed by artist Laserlew as well as 360 field recording from Antarctica, Mandeville Canyon, Leo Carillo Beach in Malibu and the Flower Fields of Carlsbad California.

The music is fully remixed and reimagined for spatial audio, with original score and remixed compositions from George Harrison, Julianna Barwick, Radiohead, Matthew Dear, The Flaming Lips, and more placed in 360-degree surround sound to create a fully immersive sonic environment.

Narrative structure is guided by restored original voice recordings from Ram Dass, Joseph Campbell, and other visionaries, who lead audiences through a carefully curated journey out of ego and into unitive consciousness and back again.

Original score and Atmos mix by Oliver Kraus and Chris Holmes. Original laser sculptures by @Laserlew (Lew Wilkinson). Original kaleidoscopes by Fascinated By Everything. Myth and Story Producer: Will Linn Ph.D.
