It’s been a long 14 years, but Country superstar Kenny Chesney made his return to perform on the Today show for the Citi Concert Series this past Thursday morning. Chesney had a lot to promote, he will be releasing his 21st album titled ‘Silver Sands Marina’ on September 25, 2026. He also announced a stadium tour that he will be headlining that will span 19 cities from April through August of 2027. So there is a lot of Kenny Chesney to talk about and he was very welcoming to the 850 or so lucky fans that got to witness one of the best that country has to offer.
Chesney came out and walked through the walkway to meet fans and sign autographs on his way to the stage. He did this a few times in between breaks. Chesney and his band performed 2 songs off the new album at 8:30am. “Goldfish” and the title track ‘Silver Sands Marina’ went over extremely well with the favorable crowd. With “Goldfish,” their were a lot of fans showing their variations of the song title. Whether that would be the cheese cracker or a toy goldfish in an actual bowl, the fans were singing every word. Chesney wrapped up the 8am hour with “Carry On” and “American Kids.” Chesney then gave a bonus song for the 3rd hour of Today (9am hour). The Chesney classic “Get Along” was that bonus track for the appreciative fans.
This was BackstageAxxess’ first time covering one of these shows on The Today show in over 8 years. It’s always a treat to be one of the lucky media to be a part of these shows. Its also cool to see all the fans of the respective artist come from over over the county to be part of a such special event. This event was no different as you had fans from places like Texas, North Carolina and Massachusetts to name a few. Hopefully, it won’t be as long until we cover another event at Rockefeller Center.
