The iconic and influential multi-platinum rock band Big Wreck have re-upped their essential second full-length album, The Pleasure And The Greed, with a special new 25th Anniversary Edition out November 6 on all DSPs.
Additionally, the band has unveiled the first-ever vinyl pressing of The Pleasure And The Greed. Celebrating 25 years since its initial arrival, the record was notably remixed and remastered by Ian Thornley and Eric Ratz, and boasts three brand new never-before-heard bonus versions, namely ”Mistake” [Feat. Chad Kroeger], ”Breakthrough” [Feat. Myles Kennedy], and ”Mistake (2026 Demo).”

First up, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger delivers his unique vocal on ”Mistake.” Over the years, he and his bandmates have regularly covered the song at shows, going as far as to include a rendition of it on theirLive At Home concert DVD.
Meanwhile, Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge lends his inimitable pipes to a skyscraper-size version of ”Breakthrough,” lifting the track up to new heights altogether. Finally, the band stripped down ”Mistake (Demo)’‘ down to the bare essentials, reimagining the track with sparse piano and highlighting Ian’s soulful vocal. The 25th Anniversary Edition serves as the definitive vision of the album.
Big Wreck unveiled The Pleasure And The Greed back in June 2001. Among its 16 tracks, ‘‘Ladylike” has continued to resonate with listeners, generating millions of streams. It bowed in the Top 10 on the Top Canadian Albums Chart, and to this day, it remains a staple in the band’s catalog.
“This album has long been a polarizing subject in and around the Big Wreck camp,” says frontman and guitarist Ian Thornley.
“From my own perspective, I choose to remember the time just before recording it, when we were all bubbling with excitement—excitement for the possibilities and that ‘wait till they hear this!’ enthusiasm.
“When we were done recording, those feelings faded fast. I remember feeling a bit lost, like, ‘This isn’t what we wanted.’ We went into another studio to try and capture some of ‘what we wanted,’ but perhaps we were just a bit too beat up by that point to get it.
“Having said all that, I’ve always believed in the music. I’ve always wondered what would happen if we got another crack at it. What if those songs got the treatment we thought they deserved?
“When the opportunity arose and we found out that the recordings still existed, I couldn’t wait to hear what was actually there. To my surprise, the initial raw recordings were okay, without the weird balances and sizzle the album always had. Apparently, that happened in the mix.
“So, 25 years after the album was released, Eric Ratz and I went about painstakingly putting these recordings back together in a way that makes sense to us now. Many years of experience later, it was almost as if we were hearing this album for the first time.
“We got very excited. That excitement carried on through to the last track. And it reminds me of the excitement those four kids had right before they went into the studio to record their second album.”
Next month, Big Wreck are on the road with Alter Bridge across North America. The tour kicks off on November 5 in Philadelphia, followed by shows in Buffalo, Cleveland, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Seattle, and more. Meanwhile, they will ignite two headline gigs on November 14 and 15 in Sioux City, IA and Omaha, NE. The tour concludes on December 5 at Silver Legacy Grande Exposition Hall in Reno, NV.
