The OLG stage got down and dirty with a show by Machine Gun Kelly last Sunday night. Kelly whose real name is Colson Baker, has a dual career in movies and music. In 2022, he released his 6th studio effort in in ‘Mainstream Sellout.’ He isn’t really on tour as this was a one-off show. So, his fans in Niagara Falls, Ontario got a real treat that MLG agreed to do this show.
MGK came out doing a few rap tunes and showcased his talents by throwing rhymes out quickly. I’m assuming that where he got his nickname because I bet few can master the quickness and delivery of MGK. It was a few tracks before he called his entire band out to join him for the 3rd song “Floor 13.” Make no mistake, this show was a good mix between both rap and rock, but I was there more to see his rock influences. He really focused on playing tracks from his latest record and the audience seemed to know most of the words and ate it all up. For ‘Kiss Kiss” he asked for everyone to dance, and dance they did! For some reason a lot of girls got up on people’s shoulders during “Emo Girl.” Even girls on girls’ shoulders, which I think I haven’t seen before. At times, MGK got serious and talked how he was working on himself to be a better person.” He stated that “his job was to inspire but how you feel is on you.” He went on to say, “Music is the resonance that heals the soul,” as he went into one of his biggest tracks in “Glass House.”
If your fan of hip hop, rap, rock, alternative or rap rock, this show has a little bit of everything. The fans were totally in it from start to finish. Some even dressed in the black and pink that MGK is known for sporting. I must say that this was another fantastic event put on by the OLG Stage!
