MONTELL JORDAN TEAMS UP WITH MAX RAE FOR A CONTEMPORARY FLIP ON HIS ‘90s CLASSIC WITH “HOW WE DO IT” – OUT MARCH 14TH

New York, NY – (February 18, 2025) – Ascendant dance-R&B-pop siren Max Rae is kicking off 2025 with a major collaboration, joining forces with legendary singer, songwriter, and producer Montell Jordan for “How We Do It” out March 14th. A fresh take on his certified 7x Platinum 1995 smash “This Is How We Do It”—a club and radio staple that soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100—this reinvention arrives just in time for the classic’s 30th anniversary. Channeling the same infectious energy, the track delivers an anthem destined to ignite dance floors and playlists alike. With its feel-good vibes and celebration of community and success, “How We Do It” is poised to become the ultimate party soundtrack for a new generation.

Rae muses, “‘How We Do It’ came about so naturally. It was a Friday night I was in London and I wanted to flip one of my favorite iconic 90s R&B songs. I wrote this not thinking Montell himself would hear it and want to be a part of it! Now that he is, this pushes it to the next level! We’re excited to share with you a fresh new take on this iconic track. It’s time to bring back feel-good music again, and it couldn’t be more perfect with it being the 30th anniversary of this song this year!”

Jordan adds, “Max Rae is a beast! She’s a solid vocalist, songwriter, and creative entertainer with a personality so infectious you’ll immediately fall in love with her (like I did!). She’s bigger than her songs; her artistry will be her staying power. Glad to partner with her on this collaboration celebrating 30 years of my iconic song, ‘This Is How We Do It.’ Max is showing the world how she does it.”

Max Rae has skyrocketed from an undiscovered singer-songwriter to a breakout sensation. 2024 was a defining year for the rising star, marked by major milestones that cemented her place in the industry. She unveiled her EP Live & Learn and teamed up with Hakkasan & Omnia Las Vegas Nightclub Resident DJ Jeff Retro for a striking cover of Janet Jackson’s “If.”

Adding to her unstoppable momentum, Rae joined the legendary British group BLUE on their SOLD-OUT UK Greatest Hits tour, delivering electrifying performances that earned rave reviews from the press, including:

“Supporting the lads- who have been together for 24 years now- was singer-songwriter Max Rae, who proved to be the perfect hype boost for impatient fans desperate for Blue to take to the stage.  Her breakout hit ‘Tattoo’ had fans on their feet, while a 90’s medley – mixing up Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ and Backstreet Boys hit, ‘I Want it That Way’ – got us in the mood for Blue’s main set list” – The Daily Mail

“But before Blue even took to the stage, I was hooked, Vegas- born rising star Max Rae is opening for the boys, bringing with her an array of Glasto-worthy sequin catsuits.  Max performed a cover of Spiece Girls hit ‘Wannabe’ as well as her latest hit single, ‘Keep You Waiting.’  Max Rae is one to watch!” – The Sun

“The second support was American artist, Max Rae, who also knocked it out of the park with her stunning vocals and infectious energy – each song was perfectly choreographed with the help of two backing dancers.   The catchy ‘Metamorphosis’ had the receptive crowd singing and dancing – a real earworm.” – The Yorkshire Post

“Max Rae has tirelessly honed her craft.  With her magnetic vocal delivery and compelling songwriting, Max has garnered a loyal following, gaining viral recognition on TikTok and gracing the runways of prestigious events like London Fashion Week for Patrick McDowell’s Show and Afterparty, as well as making appearances at New York Fashion Week.” – 1883 Magazine

“Walking onto stage to Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do It” Max Rae knows how to warm the crowd up for Blue.   Having seen Max in London at the Palladium and in Sheffield, Max oozes confidence and high energy, and you can see how much she loves being onstage.  She is amazing vocally live!” – Music Promotions UK

Rae is also riding high after her collaboration on the UK smash hit “Do You Really Like It” with MCDT and a nationwide tour with Aston Merrygold. Over the summer, she captivated massive crowds at PRIDE events across Los Angeles, New York, DC, Long Island, and San Diego, before sharing the main stage with Amber Riley at Chicago Pride.

Montell Jordan first rose to prominence in the 1990s as a defining voice in R&B, blending hip-hop and smooth vocals to create a signature sound. As the first R&B artist signed to Def Jam Records, he’s helped broaden the label’s reach beyond hip-hop. His debut single, “This Is How We Do It,” became a massive hit, topping both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B Singles chart for seven weeks. His debut album of the same name (1995) achieved Platinum certification, and he continued to find success with hits like “Somethin’ 4 da Honeyz,” “Let’s Ride,” and “Get It On… Tonite.” Beyond his own music, Jordan is a talented songwriter, penning hits like “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here” for Deborah Cox, which spent 14 weeks at #1 on the R&B charts. After a thriving music career, he transitioned into ministry, becoming a worship leader and pastor.

Now, with her highly anticipated 2025 collaboration “How We Do It” featuring Montell Jordan, Rae is set to make an even bigger impact. Jordan not only lends his iconic voice to the track but also makes a special appearance in the successive music video—just one of many exciting projects on the horizon.
