The third installment of the Bonzo Bash keeps growing and growing. The event, spearheaded by The Dead Daisies drummer Brian Tichy and Joe Sutton has taken over NAMM with 3 shows including the aforementioned. With 30 various drummers along with the stage band The Moby Dicks, the onslaught of music lasted for hours. The event is dedicated to the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward gave out the lifetime achievement drummer awards to both Anthrax’s Charlie Benante and former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo. An appearance was also made by former John Bonham drum tech Jeff Ocheltree.
A red carpet also gave media access to interview most of the participating artists. This event requires quite a bit of planning in coordinating the artists. The amount of work that goes into this event along with their “sister” shows (Randy Rhoads Memorial and The Ox & Loon) takes a lot of patience. These shows are becoming the “must see” events throughout the NAMM weekend.
