With so many concerts this summer season in the WNY area, it could be hard to determine which ones to go to. The local radio station Star 102.5 puts on an annual concert called Starry Night in the Garden at the beautiful Botanical Gardens in South buffalo, NY. Besides music, people also come and sample food and wine from local restaurants. This event has been going on for a handful of years now and this years event was headlined by Sara Barellies, who is getting ready to release her 4th studio effort on July 16th called “The Blessed Unrest.”
Sara is known primarily for playing the piano while standing up. Her fans also saw some diversity as she handled acoustic guitar duties on “Basket Case” and “Let the Rain.” Sara came off as non pretentious and very flirtatious with some of the men in audience. She is very likable and engaging all at the same time. Its refreshing to see something different and the way Sara handles herself behind the piano while standing gives more of herself to the audience. On top of that, she has an amazing voice. Sara demonstrated her range as she took it down some octaves on the Otis Redding classic “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay. She also played a song of off “The Blessed Unrest” titled “Brave.” If the song is any indication on what we can expect from the rest of the disc, then her fans are in for a real treat!
Star 102.5 always puts on a classy event making it one of the most enjoyable events of the summer!
