Country superstar Clint Black played to a sold out house last Saturday night at the Seneca Allegany casino. He is currently on an acoustic tour where it’s very stripped down. Upon taking the stage, he asked the crowd how to pronounce the town they were in. After many shouted “Sal-A-Man-Ca,” Clint laughed and said “Ok, Salamanca, let’s get this thing going.”

Black made jokes about his no frills set but it was anything but that. He did the first five (5) songs solo and then his three (3) band members joined him for the rest of the set. Black started off with off with” Love She Can’t Live Without” off of the first album Black ever produced: 1999’s “D’Lectrified.” He changed guitars in between every song and with those small windows, Black filled it with his wit and charm. He came off as extremely likeable and the songs flowed like a river throughout the set. His “toast” joke regarding Willie Nelson was a highlight as he played the only cover in his set as a tribute to him.

He also showcased his love for Chet Akins by playing “Ode to Chet.” Black said what the secret was to staying so happily married to actress Lisa Hartman for so long. After a few jokes, he went into a song dedicated to her in “Something That We Do.” His voice was in fine form and it seemed like Black could do no wrong at all. Black also sprinkled in some harmonica on songs “Betterworse,” “State of Mind” and “One More Payment” to name a few. He dedicated the latter to Rebecca Lamb who made a Facebook request for her birthday.

Black delivered a memorable performance in every aspect! Those looking for new music by Black may get their wish as he is hoping to release new material by year’s end.
