Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd is all amped up and ready to go with his brand new band Josh Todd & The Conflict and their highly anticipated debut album “Year of the Tiger.” The band takes Todd in a heavier direction with longtime friend and
Buckcherry bandmate Stevie D on guitar, Greg Cash on bass and Sean Winchester on drums. From the bombastic opening sounds of the title track, the band is at the top of their game with Todd vowing to “set the world on fire,” a lofty goal and one
which he most definitely will accomplish when the rock world gets their hands on this record.
The sound is fiery and intense with heavy riffs courtesy of Stevie D on “Inside” and “Fucked Up” and driving rhythms from Cash and Winchester providing a rock solid backbone throughout most notably on “The Conflict.” Todd’s distinctive vocals are
sounding better than ever especially on the bluesy stomp of the standout track “Rain.” The soft acoustic guitar provides a warm and welcoming feel as the band changes things up with the ballad “Good Enough.” A pleasant surprise was a very cool
cover version of Prince’s “Erotic City” before the record closes out strong with the rocking melodies of “Push It” and the hard hitting “Atomic.”
According to the Chinese Zodiac, the next Year of the Tiger won’t be until 2022 but it’s clear from this album that the Year of Josh Todd & The Conflict is about to start in fine fashion.
