Legendary musician Ringo Starr has recently released his 19th solo album “Give More Love.” The new record was recorded at Ringo’s home studio in Los Angeles and contains ten new tracks which showcase the famous drummer’s singing and songwriting abilities.
“Give More Love” has a charming, light hearted feel with a great mix of genres and magical collaborations with other rock royalty including some of Ringo’s All Starr bandmates and even Sir Paul McCartney. “We’re On The Road Again” is a classic pop rock anthem with punchy guitars and a sing along chorus complete with bass lines by McCartney. Peter Frampton adds his signature guitar sounds to “Speed of Sound” and Joe Walsh and Don Was help out on the bluesy ‘Electricity.” A number of songs have a real country feel to them with the twangy “Standing Still” and the classic old country vibe of “So Wrong For So Long.” Throughout the record, Ringo sounds in top form giving the whole album a real swinging beat. Edgar Winter is featured on the reggae romp of “King of the Kingdom” and the cool rockabilly vibe of “Shake It Up.” The title track is a stellar country rock tune which was co-written by Gary Nicholson to close out the album. Also included are four bonus tracks which feature classics like “Back Off Boogaloo” and “Photograph” which were inspired by performances from Starr’s 2016 Peace and Love Birthday Concert.
With brilliant songs and outstanding performances, “Give More Love” is another shining star to add to Ringo’s long list of accomplishments. Whether it’s a crunching rocker or a country crooner, Ringo tackles them all with a style and panache that only he can provide, with a little help from his friends of course.
