Umphrey’s McGee have released a futuristic video for lead single “The Silent Type.” PRESS HERE to watch the stunning visual, which first premiered via Forbes.com. Joining forces with Dallas-based multi-media creative studio Reel FX, the video blends together hyper-reality and augmented reality and speaks to the band’s ability to remain at the forefront of innovation and technology. Complementing the lyrics of the song, the story begins with an illicit cigarette drag offered by a smoky brunette. Enticed by the connection made inside his retro user interface, he slowly becomes incapable of distinguishing artificial intelligence from reality and a crazy night of Chicago debauchery ensues. To achieve this feeling, the team experimented with frantic edits, bold colors and UI overlays. An ode to the band’s biggest fans, the video is peppered with hidden items from their 20 year career.
