In the early eighties, there was a brand new form of metal hitting the scene with lightning fast tempos and an extremely aggressive attitude. Of course I am referring to the beginnings of thrash and the bands that would later define the genre, eventually becoming known as the Big Four: Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer. One of those at the forefront of the genre was none other than Scott Ian of Anthrax, who was there from the very beginning of it all. He has a brand new book out, “I’m the Man,” which chronicles his journey in Anthrax and in life and is a great first hand account of the history of thrash.
