The Dead Daisies “Make Some Noise”

Dead Daisies

Rock and roll supergroup The Dead Daisies just released their latest and third (3rd) studio album “Make Some Noise.”  There have been a few lineup changes since the last record with John Corabi taking over lead vocal duties and guitarist Doug Aldrich coming on board.  With keyboardist Dizzy Reed busy with Guns ‘N Roses, the band is down to a five piece for this installment as well.

The new album is a hard hitting rock and roll ride with crunching riffs, plenty of hooks, and a real bluesy vibe.  The absence of a keyboardist and the addition of Aldrich make this a much more guitar oriented outing than prior records.  From the opening track “Long Way To Go” to the adrenaline rush of “Mainline,” the songs have a real classic ’70s rock feel.  Live audiences will be making some noise of their own with the shout out loud chorus of the title track and you won’t want to miss “Last Time I Saw the Sun,” which has a real Aerosmith type feel to it.  I’ve always loved Corabi as a vocalist and his rough around the edges sound is a perfect fit for this record.  Founding member, guitarist and songwriter David Lowy is rock solid as always with some great new tunes and the musicianship of this group is without question.  Two classic rock covers are included with a supercharged version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son” and The Who’s “Join Together” which closes the album in true rock fashion with a great jam session highlighted by Aldrich’s guitar work.

With so many talented musicians busy with their own projects, you never know how long a supergroup like The Dead Daisies will be around.  But the stadium era rock anthems of “Make Some Noise” will surely endure the test of time.
