Klaus Meine (Scorpions) Interview

Longevity is a difficult thing to achieve in the music business.  For a rock and roll band, it can be almost impossible as the music industry is constantly evolving.   To be successful for a decade or more is a huge accomplishment.  To maintain a legion of fans for over 50 years is almost unheard of and yet there are a few bands whose music and live performances have allowed them to achieve just that.  One of those bands to reach that level of success is the Scorpions.  What began in 1965 in Hanover, Germany, has grown into one of the biggest and best rock and roll bands in the world.  With over 100 million records sold, Scorpions have been rocking audiences around the globe with fantastic songs and brilliant performances.   They achieved enormous commercial success in the ’80s with the “Love At First Sting”album and the hit single “Rock You Like A Hurricane” which would become one of the most recognizable songs in rock and is still used at sporting events around the world.

In 2012, the band embarked on what was to be their final tour, appropriately named the “Sting In The Tail” tour.  Their final  stop on that tour was an emotional one in Munich which was filmed and recently released on  DVD “Live In Munich-2012.”  However, the Scorpions had a change of heart and knew they had a lot of rocking still to do.  In 2015, they released their 19th studio album “Return To Forever” which had them sounding better than ever with songs like “Going Out With A Bang” and “We Built This House.”  They are currently out on the road lighting up stadiums with their explosive style of rock and roll on their 50th anniversary tour which may or may not be their last.  BackstageAxxess had the rare opportunity to talk with lead vocalist Klaus Meine and find out all the details on the new DVD and tour, their decision not to retire, and what the future may hold.  Please join us for a conversation with the one and only, Klaus Meine.
