It’s been a long time since Brad Paisley has played CMAC in Canandaigua. In fact, 2014 was the last time and only the 3rd time overall in CMAC’s 30 plus year history. This tour is dubbed the ‘Truck Still Works World Tour.’ This time around, he brought country up and up and comers, Dylan Scott and Alexandra Kay.
Firs up was Alexandra Kay. A little history on Kay is that she just signed to BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville earlier this year. She was previously was an independent artist. Kay released her debut album back in 2023 called ‘All I’ve Ever Known.’ She played a short 25-minute set, but she came off very likeable. She introduced her boyfriend and guitarist Rocko Beall to the crowd too. You saw plenty of her t shirts around in the audience so she obviously is making her mark.
Next up was Dylan Scott. Scott has a brand new album in tow called ‘Easy Does It.’ Scott really knows how to work a stage; he went up and down the thrust all night taking selfies with people’s phones that were held up and even signed a few items along the way. Songs like “Country Till I Die” and “Livin’ My Best life” went over like gangbusters. Scott and his band delivered an impressive set for the fans at CMAC.
Headlining the show was Brad Paisley. Even though it’s been 8 years since Paisley has released a full-length album, he is working on a new album. He did release a new single called what else, “Truck Still Works.” Paisley and his band took to the stage and did a 1 hour and 25-minute set. The graphics on the backscreen were super cool to look at all night long. It was a lot of vintage graphics like Pac Man shown during “Ticks.” The car Kit” was shown as well. Funny caricatures for the Smokey and the Bandit theme song (East Bound and Down) were shown and at the end of the song the stage went dark. This is when the local the Ontario County Sheriffs Police showed up onstage mimicking that they were there to arrest Paisley. It was a funny bit. There was a “kiss cam” video and a “rejection cam” video too where fans played the parts for both of them. It was very crowd interactive. For “We Danced,” Paisley took the electric guitar off he was playing, signed it and gave it to a lucky young fan standing by the extended stage. Paisley talked about how bad the humidity was and said, you have us beat in Nashville. Paisley invited Alexandra Kay and did a cool rendition of the John Randall cover “Whiskey Lullaby.” Paisley finished his set with what might be one of his biggest songs in “Alcohol.”
Paisley still looks and sounds great! It was fantastic show in extreme heat like temperatures. Paisley is such a talented guitarist and one of the best musicians on the country circuit today.
