Mary Wilson @ Bears Den (Inside the Seneca Niagara Casino) Niagara Falls, NY 9-20-19

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Mary Wilson brought her talents to the Bears Den (inside the Seneca Niagara Casino) last Friday night. Mary and her 6-piece backing band were able to deliver songs that spanned the almost 60-year career of Wilson. She is primarily known for being in one of the biggest groups of all time in the Supremes. The band ruled the charts in the 1960’s.

Wilson came out in an elegant white gown and delivered a song that defined her set, “Here’s to Life.” Wilson was very thankful for the life her fans have given her and stated that throughout her show. She talked about how she is 76 and half years young (She looked fantastic by the way).  Wilson is mostly known for being the backup to Diana Ross, who sang all the leads for The Supremes. Wilson joked at one point, the “oooo’s” and ahhh’s” carried me all the way to the bank.

Her love for former partner Florence Ballard is as strong as ever. She mentioned her at least 3 times during her set and talked about how beautiful her voice really was. She also stated it was a shame that she was unable to show it (Ballard died at age 32 in 1976). She dedicated “I Am Changing” to the memory of Ballard.

Wilson is currently on the new season of Dancing with the Stars. Her coach Brandon Armstrong is traveling with her so she can practice during the week. (editor’s note: She was eliminated a few days after this show took place.)

Wilson’s voice was still sharp. Her demeanor and gratitude were well received while she sang her former bands biggest hits. She also added some choice covers from The Rolling Stones and John Lennon, which she had fun doing.

Overall, Wilson delivered a memorable performance that not only she would be proud of, but her former singing mate Florence Ballard would be as well.
