After 50 years in the music business, one might wonder how Aretha Franklin, dubbed the “Queen of Soul,” still has the passion to perform after all of these years, especially after a recent health issue which sidelined her in late 2010, putting her status as a performer in doubt. However, following her performance late Saturday night in Niagara Falls, NY all doubt literally evaporated. She showed she still has the want and need to perform and can do it at a sky-scraping level.
Before a recent stop at the Seneca Niagara Events Center (her second show back) she was gracious enough to do a short question and answer session for the attending media. We at Backstageaxxess.com were able to take part in this short Q&A. We were curious to ask during her illustrious career and acceptance of so many awards which is the most meaningful she has been granted and why; being the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom to receiving an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Detroit to name a few. Let’s see what she had to say during this brief snippet …

We would like to thank Tony Astran from the Seneca Niagara Casino for allowing Backstageaxxess.com to take part in the interview. We also would like to thank fellow photographer Harry Scull Jr. for the shot of Gus Griesinger talking to Aretha.
