Grace Potter Interview

Venturing out on her own, Grace Potter will be stepping into unchartered territory. She will be releasing her first record outside of the Grace Potter and the Nocturnals name moniker on August 14th titled “Midnight.” You won’t find a more invigorating front woman in music than Grace Potter. I feel like Potter has taken her show to another level as I have seen her a few times over the last week in the Western New York area. After a few years of trying to nail down an interview with Potter, we finally were given that wonderful opportunity to talk with her before her show at CMAC in Canandaigua, NY.

This interview was few like we’ve conducted before. We were notified the morning of the show and then had to move our setup due to the sound check in the background that started up right when Potter made her way to us to start the interview. Potter was a delight and rolled with us, even wanting to help carry our equipment. Potter picked out a more tranquil location overlooking the backstage area and the other wonderful scenic views that the venue provides.

Potter made us feel right at home as we chatted about what it took to make “Midnight” and what it was like working with producer Eric Valentine. We also talked about her working outside of The Nocturnals and her thoughts on it. Being an instrumentalist, we asked Potter what she gravitates to when writing a song. Her response was unexpected to say the least. How did the cover come about? Wait to hear her response as it would make your eyes come out of your head. It was totally surprising. There were plenty of other topics that we enjoyed covering so you will just have to watch to see this joyous conversation with a lovely lady and even better person, Grace Potter!
