When one of the top 3 selling musical artists comes to town it’s a big deal. It was also a big deal when Garth Brooks went into “semi –retirement” to raise his kids and remove himself from the public eye back in 2001. Yes, the last few years he has held a residency at the Wynn in Las Vegas, but that was only a weekend commitment, allowing him the luxury of being able to be home through the week with his family. Late in 2014, Brooks released a new album entitled “Man Against Machine,” and announced that he would be touring again. Earlier this year Buffalo, NY was announced as a stop on his tour, which included 6 shows in 4 days. Tickets were immediately sold out for all the dates, minus some scattered seats in the top levels for each show.
To preface the appearance, Brooks conducted a press conference for the local media. It is imperative to mention that Brooks, who has sold more records than almost any artist ever, still made time to talk to the media about why he chose to come to Buffalo, NY. To get any time with a man who has accomplished as much as Brooks has could be considered a benchmark for any news outlet. That said, when we were able to ask Brooks a few questions, I must admit on a personal level, this became a highlight of the hundreds and hundreds of artists I have interviewed over the past 8 years. Not because of who he is and what he has accomplished, but what he is and how he treated each member of the media and their respective outlet. He is truly one of the most humble and down to earth artists you could ever meet.
In our brief interview with Garth Brooks we talk about the differences he experienced making his latest record “Man Against Machine” vs. the last studio effort, “ Scarecrow,” back in 2001. We also discuss his new label, RCA Nashville, and what that means since he is now on the same label as his wife Trisha Yearwood. Hear Brooks talk about what their plans are on making music going forward. In addition, we get the scoop on how he still is able to keep prices affordable for his fans. Lastly, see Brooks joke about my “athletic stature and guitar prowess.” All of which are not true, of course.
This is a great interview with a great human being; a guy who really does care about the music, his fans, the media and, of course, his family. We proudly present a one-on-one with Garth Brooks!
