Last year marked the 30th anniversary of “Awaken The Guardian,” the progressive metal cult classic from Fates Warning. Since then, the band has gone through numerous lineup changes including the departure of original vocalist John Arch. But to celebrate such a momentous occasion, guitarist Jim Matheos reassembled the Guardian era lineup of the band for two very special performances. The first appearance took place at Keep It True in Germany last April and the other at Prog Power in Atlanta last September.
Both performances were filmed for the upcoming DVD “Awaken The Guardian Live” which will be released April 28th via Metal Blade Records. John has spent his post-Fates Warning days outside of the music business pursuing a different career path but took some time to chat with us here at BackstageAxxess and fill us in on all the details surrounding these amazing shows.
